You will need to sign a FERPA authorization for release of information. You can use the form located Here. Many schools and background check companies use their own authorization forms, which are acceptable provided they are FERPA-compliant and include the student’s signature.

Gramarcy will not disclose personally identifiable information from a student’s education records without the prior written consent of the student, except as authorized by FERPA. Those exceptions can be found Here.

When the school closed, Gramarcy became the custodian of the records exactly as we received them from the school. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability or authority to change the names on documents.

When you request your transcripts or other documents, please provide the name on your transcript when you were enrolled (if you don’t recall, simply provide your best guess). You will also verify your identity by providing your Student ID# or Date of Birth or the last four digits of your social security number. If your request is coming through a third party, they will need to provide a FERPA-compliant authorization for release of information with your signature on it. (Some companies have their own, or you can use the one *here*). No other documentation is required.

When Independence University, Stevens-Henager College, CollegeAmerica, California College San Diego, and California College for Health Sciences closed, Gramarcy became the custodian of the records exactly as we received them from the school. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability or authority to change what is on the transcripts.

Please email us at contact@gramarcy.com with as much information as possible on your other classes (campus, year(s), classes taken, etc.). It is possible those records are in an archived system, which requires additional research.
If you were dismissed from school and were enrolled in a course while in the appeal process, it is possible the class was removed if your appeal was denied.

If you logged into those classes through Angel or Canvas, even just to “check on things”, that would have qualified as attendance, and a grade would have been issued for the course based on how far into the course you attended. (W’s would have been given if the login happened during the first week of the module; F’s would have been given if the login occurred during weeks 2,3 and/or 4).

Gramarcy does not have copies of certificates or credentials. Please contact the company you earned the certification through to request a copy of your records.
